For more than 60 years, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF has put children first, engaging kids in the U.S. to help kids around the world by Trick–or–Treating for UNICEF. Built for a new generation of global citizens, Kid Power uses the world's first wearable–for–good to get kids moving by tapping into their inherent desire to help peers. By joining Kid Power, kids get more active so that children everywhere can grow up healthy.

Kids wear Kid Power Bands, which measure their movement and unlock Kid Power Points – the more they move, the more points they earn. Power Points are converted to funding by partners, and funds are used by UNICEF to deliver lifesaving packets of ready–to–use therapeutic food (RUTF) to severely malnourished children.

RUTF – a protein and vitamin-packed paste – has been called a "miracle food" for its success in the treatment of severe acute malnutrition, which threatens the lives of almost 20 million children each year. Every day kids get active with Kid Power, they unlock packets of RUTF, which UNICEF delivers to children who need them most. UNICEF Kid Power puts children first–getting kids active and saving children's lives.

In October of 2014, UNICEF Kid Power had its first citywide pilot. Thanks to the support of The City of Sacramento, Mayor Kevin Johnson, and the Sacramento Kings, nearly 900 Sacramento kids got active to save lives. At the end of a month, Sacramento kids had walked over 74,000 miles and earned over 70,000 packets of RUTF.

Beginning March 2015, UNICEF Kid Power will launch in Boston, Dallas and New York City where more than 10,000 kids will get active to save lives.
